Ten major sewage and construction projects worth more than BD50 million ($131.9 million) were completed by Bahrain's Works Ministry last year.

They have led to more access to sewage systems, better waterpurification, enhanced rainwater drainage and a new Hawar Island port, among others, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The ministry’s accomplishments were revealed in an annual report issued by the Information Affairs Authority.

The report listed “the most important projects” completed last year in the sanitation sector, some of which started as early as 2006.

The most expensive sewage project was improving the efficiency of the dual biological treatment process at the Tubli Waste Water Treatment Plant at a cost of BD8.75 million.

The most expensive construction project was the building of the Survey and Land Registration Bureau in Seef district at a cost of BD13.6 million.

The GDN reported on Monday that around BD66 million was spent on 71 infrastructure projects last year. - TradeArabia News Service
