Diyar in deal with Kanoo to build school

Manama, April 3, 2014

Bahrain-based Abdulrahman Kanoo International School (ARKIS) has signed an agreement with urban developer Diyar Al Muharraq for building a school within the master-planned project.

Spread across a total land area of 26,608 sqm, with a prime location near Diyar Homes, Diyar Al Muharraq's first residential project, and Sarat residential community, the school will be for both residents and others, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

The two have signed a land purchase agreement, with Diyar Al Muharraq represented at the signing ceremony by chairman Abdulhakim Alkhayyat, managing director Aaref Hejres and chief executive Dr Maher Al Shaer while ARKIS was represented by board member Tariq bin Abdul Latif Kanoo, along with Mubarak Atwi, Abdul Samad Abu Baker and Sunil Raj.

Financial and other details of the deal were not disclosed.

The Abdulrahman Kanoo International School, a co-educational and bilingual school, is a certified Cambridge International Examination (CIE) Centre and authorised by the International Baccalaureate Organisation for its IB Diploma Programme and Advanced Subsidiary programme by the CIE implemented in Grade 11 and 12.

"We are very happy to welcome Abdulrahman Kanoo International School into our fold," said Alkhayyat.

"Pupils, staff and the community will benefit from the superb new facilities and high standards of teaching when the new school opens its doors."

Dr Al Shaer said the two organisations would work together for creating "an atmosphere of intellectual and creative engagement within Diyar Al Muharraq."

According to Kanoo, the new Diyar Campus is expected to be a valuable addition to the school's existing facilities.

"We look forward to offering the same high standards at reasonable fees, that has created a lot of goodwill for the ARKIS brand," he said.

"We see Diyar Al Muharraq as an integrated future city that will be a natural extension of Muharraq and Hidd and we are very excited that we will be serving the communities there with an excellent campus planned for the area," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
