$671m projects coming up at Saudi port

Saudi Arabia is set to develop 31 new projects worth SR2.52 billion ($671.5 million) at the Jubail Commercial Port, said a report.

The General Organization of Sea Ports and the private sector projects will be implemented under a single system to make the port a productive hub of transportation operations, reported the Arab News.

The private sector projects include one implemented by Gulf Contracting Company, which is valued at SR550 million and includes the development of a container terminal and cargo port, as well as a project by Arab Company valued at SR281 million for chemical storage facilities valued at SR281 million, stated the report.

Recently, 14 projects worth SR160 million were completed at the Jubail Commercial Port, including the establishment of sidewalk and expansion of a fishing port.

Now, work is on at 10 more projects at the port, saaid the report. This includes the second phase of the project to deepen the western rotation basin of the northeast area the port, rehabilitation of the stations and the establishment of the sewerage network in the port of Jubail, rehabilitation and reform of the administration building, modernization and development of the electrical networks, establishment of a new backup power station, and rehabilitation of roads, it added.
