Revamp of 42 Bahraini schools underway

Manama, July 27, 2014

Work is underway to revamp 42 schools across Bahrain.

A total 90 schools out of 205 are also undergoing preventive electromechanical maintenance to avert any loopholes, said Education Minister Dr Majid Al Nuaimi

He said that routine maintenance work would be complete before the new school year to ensure safe learning environments for students, reported the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The ministry has also integrated green technology, replaced old taps with automatic sensor ones to conserve power and avoid water wastage at public facilities.

Double-glazed aluminium windows equipped with insulators are also being installed.

The ministry has also started setting up special slopes and toilets for students with disabilities.

"The initiative will be implemented in five schools to assess its success before extending the new features to all schools in the coming years," Dr Al Nuaimi said. - TradeArabia News Service
