Malaysian firm signs $35m Qatar stadium deal

Eversendai Corporation, one of the leading integrated structural steel turnkey contractors in Malaysia, said its Qatar unit has won a $35.7 million contract to renovate the Khalifa Olympic Stadium, said a report.

The Malaysian company said it has secured a contract to work on the arena that was originally built in 1976 and was upgraded in 2004 for the Asian Games in Qatar, reported the local daily The Star.

As per the deal, Eversendai will be responsible for the total renovation comprising re-engineering and dismantling of the existing lighting arch and ancillary steel structures, engineering, supply, fabrication and construction of steel structures.

Eversendai's executive chairman and group managing director Tan Sri A K Nathan said with this win, the total amount of new deals secured by the company this year has risen to $350 million and taken to current order book to $540 million.
