Saudi's non-oil exports surge to $2.5bn

Saudi Arabia's non-oil exports rose to SR9.4 billion ($2.51 billion) in September, up 15 per cent from a year earlier, official data showed on Sunday.

The main exports were plastics and petrochemical products, which collectively amounted to 69 per cent of all exports, bringing in SR6.4 billion, the data showed.

A year earlier, non-oil exports stood at SR8.1 billion, according to data from the Central Department of Statistics and Information's (CDSI) website.

Asian countries were the main importers, receiving 33 per cent of the kingdom's non-oil exports, followed by the GCC region and other Arab countries.

China received 10 per cent of Saudi Arabia's non-oil exports, amounting to SR951 million, followed by the UAE and Singapore, received 8 per cent of exports, worth
 around SR850 million each.-Reuters
