Bahrain plans foreign investment drive

Manama, July 24, 2011

A task force created to attract foreign investors to Bahrain in the wake of unrest will launch a global tour after Ramadan, said the chairman of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI).

Arab countries, North Africa and China will be among destinations to be targeted for potential investors as part of the international road show, added Dr Essam Fakhro.

The body was formed in March under an agreement between the BCCI, Foreign Ministry, Economic Development Board and Industry and Commerce Ministry.

'It will be a way to promote Bahrain as an investment hub to the world and raise awareness of the country's abilities,' said Dr Fakhro.

He was speaking on the sidelines of a lecture by Foreign Ministry director of bilateral relations Dr Dhafer Al Umran, who spoke about promoting Bahrain to the world at the BCCI, Sanabis.

Dr Al Umran said his ministry's strategy had changed since the unrest and it was now working on building economic and political relations with other countries. – TradeArabia News Service
