Iraq's core inflation slows to 6.2pc in May

Iraq's core inflation slowed to 6.2 per cent in May from 6.7 per cent in April due to drop in food item costs and housing costs, said Mudher Kasim, deputy governor of the central bank.

In April, the country had witnessed high annual inflation mainly owing to the housing sector and fluctuations in the exchange rate whihc had an impact on raising the rate of inflation. The core inflation strips out fuel prices.-Reuters
