Nakheel plans new school at Al Furjan

Dubai, September 10, 2007

Nakheel today announced a partnership with Madaares and Beacon Education to build a leading American curriculum school.

The school will be built at Al Furjan, Nakheel’s new family-oriented villa community.

This world class school will be the centre of the large community and will have a total capacity of over 1,700 students and will be operational by the time the houses are handed over to Al Furjan residents in 2010.

The American curriculum school will provide Al Furjan families with a stimulating, safe and secure environment for their children in which the highest quality of teaching is delivered and learning is achieved, said a statement. The carefully planned architecture of the school will provide sporting and leisure facilities for the use of the Al Furjan community even beyond the school day.

Nasser bin Hassan Al-Shaikh, board chairman of Madaares, said: “As our newest American curriculum school in Al Furjan will focus on the development of the whole child with an emphasis on individual skills and talents, as well as ensure that the social and emotional needs of the child are met. Our aim at Madaares is to increase the quality of education in the Gulf region by combining local knowledge with expertise drawn from around the world.”

Mohammed Rashed bin Dhabeah, director, Al Furjan, said: “At Nakheel we are delighted to have confirmed our partnership with Madaares. Al Furjan is a family focused development where the values of neighbourhood living lie at the heart of the community. The announcement of a leading American curriculum school at Al Furjan makes the development an ideal place for families to invest in their future.”

Nakheel recently launched public sales for Al Furjan and all of the available homes were sold in just one day, following the success of an exclusive ‘women only’ joint sales initiative with Johara, the female banking division of Dubai Islamic Bank. Phase 1 of Al Furjan is now completely sold out with more than 800 homes snapped up by customers, it said. -TradeArabia News Service
