Ducab trains Emirati students

Dubai, May 21, 2008

Ducab has recruited seven Emirati students from the Vocational Education Development Centre (VEDC).

The students, who were chosen for their skills and positive attitude towards learning, were offered a three year work assignment at Ducab, following the completion of Phase 1 of their training with the cable company.

Having completed work placement in Ducab and with over 1000 hours of training behind them, the graduates of Phase 1, will spend the next three years reaping the rewards of their hard work.

In a hands-on working environment at Ducab, the students will have an excellent opportunity over the next two years to further learn the ropes and gain expertise in various mechanical functions, ranging from technician to fitter.

The students will then be awarded an internationally recognised vocational certificate, and will have the opportunity to work as full-time employees for Ducab.

Dr Saeed Mohammed Al Barwani, general manager of the IT and Educational Development Department, said: “The programme offers graduates and vocational trainees, an exceptional opportunity to become part of one of the best programs available in the UAE market today. We would like to welcome them onboard and wish them the very best over the next two years here at Ducab.”

In line with VEDC’s training approach, Ducab provides a continuous and progressive training program that is challenging, interesting and realistic for its 280 trainees, 90 of whom have senior level positions.

“The VEDC program at Ducab has been an amazing opportunity for me to learn new skills and meet new people. I have always been interested in pursuing a career in the mechanical sector. The training and work experience that I received at Ducab has just confirmed that this is the type of industry I want to work in. I am really looking forward to the next two years in which I will have the opportunity to further my skills and later take permanent employment with Ducab,’’ said Moftah.

VEDC, which was established in 2006, signed an agreement with Ducab last year to allow vocational students to undergo training that could lead to permanent jobs. – TradeArabia News Service
