Gulf eyes 3D education and training

Dubai, April 5, 2009

The Gulf’s universities, education and training organisations are currently examining the latest 3D movie technology to add another dimension to their educational courses and training seminars, said an expert.

The new generation of 3D digital film technology and projection can be viewed with stylish, disposable glasses, which are far cheaper than were needed in the past to watch 3D movies.

“That means it’s open to a far wider range of users and the whole technology has become more affordable,” said Simon Smith, sales director of Christie, a global leader in the manufacture of visual solutions.

“In addition, the new 3D technology has been tested by broadcasting operations. Last year, the BBC transmitted a live test transmission of an international rugby match to a selected audience of 300 at a theatre in London with Christie technology,” he added.

“We’re very excited to have the opportunity to offer the visitors a chance to experience the advances and performances that 3D technology has to offer," Smith noted.

Christie, whose customers in Dubai include the Emirates Group and Dubailand, is to introduce its latest 3D Digital Cinema projector at the Install Systems Integration Middle East Expo 2009, which runs from April 26-28 in Dubai.

Christie Brilliant3D™ technology, which significantly boosts projector performance and image brightness¸ will also be demonstrated on its digital cinema projector range, he said.

Install, organised by IIR Middle East, is the region's largest dedicated tradeshow for professional audio visual installation and integration technologies and applications for residential and commercial projects.

Now in its seventh year, Install has successfully evolved to become a standalone event, promoted separately from its sister shows of Palme, Musac and event 360.

However, combined they cover the entire spectrum of the entertainment industry, from cabling and lighting solutions to musical instruments and live acts.-TradeArabia News Service
