Silatech summit to discuss strategy

Doha, April 7, 2009

Silatech, an initiative to promote entrepreneurship among youth, will hold a conference that will gather key stakeholders to discuss Silatech’s progress, key achievements and future plans.

Silatech’s three-year strategy will be presented, along with new partnerships and programmes. It will bring together leaders, practitioners and representatives of youth organisations to generate new and innovative solutions in youth employment

The Silatech Summit will take place on June 8 in Doha.

Silatech executive committee member Dr Abdulla Al Kubaisi and Silatech director of strategic partnerships Ahmed Younis has presented an overview of the progress made on the Silatech project in the past year at the UN Alliance of Civilisations Forum (UNAOC) in Istanbul.

The Silatech initiative envisions a world which every young person is prepared to succeed, engaged in meaningful work, and actively pursuing their dreams.

It was developed in 2008 under the patronage of Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned of Qatar, a member of the UNAOC high level group and chairperson of Qatar Foundation.

The project is a reflection of her determination to address the critical and growing need to create jobs and economic opportunities for young people.

"Youth in the Middle East comprise one third of the population of the region, representing an asset that should not go untapped," said Dr Kubaisi.

Since Silatech’s launch last June, it has become fully operational and has established numerous alliances with global, regional and national partners to promote job creation, enterprise development, and job placement to bring hope and opportunity to young people throughout the region. – TradeArabia News Service
