The Kanoo Group, a UAE-based diversified business conglomerate, will sponsor Dubai Cares Walk for Education for 2010 on November 26.

The walk will highlight the importance of primary education in breaking the cycle of poverty in developing nations and also emphasises Dubai Cares’ efforts in developing and implementing valuable education programs.

The 3-km walk along Jumeirah Beach Road will significantly represent a fraction of the difficulties faced by children in the rural communities who are forced to walk more than six kilometers every day to attend school.

According to Unesco's 2010 Education for All Report (EFA), the number of children out of school has dropped by 33 million worldwide since 1999, but as per statistics from the World Food Program (WFP), 72 million children worldwide do not attend school, 66 million attend class hungry.

The registration fee for the ‘Walk for Education 2010’ is Dh30 per participant which represents one child’s access to primary education. UAE residents can register for the Walk at Jumeirah Beach Park on the day of the event between 7am and 8am.

Dubai Cares will host participants to a post-walk celebration at Jumeirah Beach Park in Dubai during which entertainment and educational exhibits will be showcased.-TradeArabia News Service
