Bahrain University to build $3.4m college

Manama, September 5, 2011

Bahrain University will build a new BD1.32 million ($3.44 million) engineering college at its Sakhir campus under the supervision of international engineering consultancy firm, said the university president.

The venture represented one of their most historic moments, added Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Janahi.

'The college of engineering is considered as one of the most important sources that provide the engineering, oil and petrochemical sectors with highly qualified cadres,' he said.

'Moreover, its obtainment of academic accreditation in six of its programmes from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology in 2009 has positioned the college among the most prestigious engineering colleges in the world.'

Meinhardt was chosen out of a host of local and international firms that submitted tenders for the project on the basis of its experience in the field and affordable prices.

Engineering director Dr Fuad Al Ansari said that the new development was in line with other facilities at the Sakhir campus in terms of its scale, style and being environmentally friendly. – TradeArabia News Service
