Emirates NBD inks deal with Dubai university

Dubai, January 23, 2013

Emirates NBD, a leading banking group in the region, said it has signed an internship affiliation agreement with The American University in Dubai (AUD) as part of its corporate social responsibility program.

The agreement aims to promote academic excellence and intellectual creativity among students by informing them of the best banking practices and equipping them with practical training, said a statement from the bank.

The agreement is also an effort by AUD to improve its collaboration with regional employers and to assist in Emirates NBD’s recruitment needs.

“We look forward to continuing a fruitful relationship with Emirates NBD and supplying them with talented students and graduates,” said Stella Mandehou, the career services manager at AUD after signing the agreement with Rehab Al Hosani, senior manager, Nationalisation and Business Communications Unit, Human Resources at Emirates NBD.

Al Hosani said, “Emirates NBD will welcome the new and talented AUD students and provide them with the opportunity to test their interest in a particular field in banking before permanent commitments are made.”

"In support of their outstanding students and graduates, Emirates NBD is pleased to begin its relationship with the AUD with the signing of this agreement.  The bank can provide career guidance for AUD’s graduates, recruitment and professional training, internship placement, as well as an exchange of ideas between professionals and students," he added.

Shekhar Sawant, the head of learning & development, Human Resources, said, “We are delighted to support the AUD students and graduates on their learning journey.  We look forward to hosting these young interns on an on-going basis.”

Commenting on the tieup, Peggy Awad, the director of external relations, said, “AUD recognizes the importance of providing access for its students to the broader external community and the crucial role that industry and corporate partners play in helping develop our students’ skills as we prepare them for the competitive workplace.”-TradeArabia News Service
