Committee reviews Bahrainisation rates

A tripartite committee in charge of reviewing the rate of Bahrainisation held its regular meeting yesterday, discussing the requirements of different sections of trade.

The sections included beauty parlours, training, human resources development, education, advertising, exhibitions and conferences and ICT, according to a report in our sister oublication, the Gulf Daily News.

The panel consists of representatives from the Labour Ministry, the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA).

LMRA chief executive officer Ausamah Al Absi chaired the meeting, in the presence of BCCI first deputy chairman Ibrahim Zainal and committee members.

Al Absi announced that the rates of Bahrainisation would be reconsidered following directives from the leadership to promote productivity and boost the national economy.

He stressed the LMRA-led efforts in co-operation with other market partners to set up the best system in line with the law, and without compromising the interests of any party. He also commended traders for their co-operation in employing Bahrainis and giving them the priority as the first choice.

Zainal stressed the need to review rates of Bahrainisation in different sectors taking into account changes. He pointed out that the current rates of Bahrainisation were last updated four years ago.

The session approved the proposed rates of Bahrainisation for the above-mentioned sectors. – TradeArabia News Service
