Over 4,000 benefit from Tamkeen scheme

Bahrain's labour fund Tamkeen said over 4,000 people have benefitted from its “Conference Attendance Support” scheme, with total support amount reaching nearly BD1.1 million (($2.9 million).
Launched in June 2012 as part of Tamkeen’s efforts to help Bahrainis develop and enhance their skills, the scheme enables the beneficiaries to attend conferences, seminars, workshops, and similar short-term events to acquire high-level knowledge and apply international best practices related to their field from internationally renowned speakers and trainers.
The beneficiaries of the scheme have till date attended more than 50 events under this scheme, said a .
"The Conference Attendance Support Scheme reinforces the culture of continuous learning and self-improvement among Bahrainis, an important competitive advantage in today's dynamic market environment," said Tamkeen acting vice-president for human capital development Amal Al Kooheji.
To date, Tamkeen has partnered with 42 local service providers through the scheme.
Chief executive of Origin group Ahmed Al Banna, one of the scheme's service providers, said the scheme has supported event managers because it provides much needed support for delegates and ultimately back the company's ability to bring quality speakers to Bahrain.
Gulf Future Business chief executive Ahmed Al Hujairy, another service provider under the scheme, said: "We have witnessed an increase in the interest and participation of Bahraini delegates when the option of benefiting from the scheme is available."
Twenty-nine per cent of the scheme's beneficiaries attended management-related events, followed by self-development at 17 per cent, banking and finance at 10 per cent, human resources at 9 per cent, and 6 per cent for both entrepreneurship and ICT events.-TradeArabia News Service
