471 graduate from aviation college

Dubai, October 27, 2013

Emirates Aviation College (EAC) celebrated the largest graduating class of 471 students in it 22-year history at a ceremony in Dubai.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and chief executive of Emirates Airline and Group and attended by Brigadier General Mohamed Bin Salman Al Khalifa, director of Air Operations, Royal Bahraini Force.

The class, which included 61 UAE nationals and 77 staff from the Emirates Group, received degrees in various programme disciplines offered by the EAC.

“The burgeoning aviation industry in the UAE and broader Mena region has created a whole spectrum of high value-added jobs that demand continuing education and professional qualifications. The success of our programmes reflects this demand, and also the calibre of our education,” said Dr Ahmad Al Ali, vice-chancellor.

“More than two decades ago, EAC celebrated its first graduation ceremony with a batch of 40 students. To be standing here today, seeing off hundreds of students and conferring degrees in multiple disciplines, is proof of how the college has been able to grow and meet the changing education needs of the aviation industry,” said Dr Al Ali.

“Our aim remains, to be the centre of aviation excellence in the MENA region, and to continue contributing to the UAE’s quest towards a knowledge-driven society,” he added.

The degrees conferred included aviation management; aeronautical engineering, logistics and supply chain management; aviation safety and security; avionics, business, airline and airport operations, as well as EAC’s four new master degree programmes in aviation security, aviation safety, human resource management and human resource development and the new higher diploma programme in aviation management for UAE nationals. - TradeArabia News Service
