Top experts to attend GCC training summit

Manama, January 7, 2014

Renowned writer and trainer Bob Pike will taking part in the second edition of the GCC “Trainers-Meet-Trainers” conference which begins tomorrow (January 8) in Bahrain.

The two-day event is being held under the patronage of the Minister of Labour Jameel Bin Mohammed Humaidan at the Crowne Plaza hotel.

Several leading international speakers from the Gulf region, the Arab World, Malaysia, and the US will be taking part in the event  organized by SMR Group and Origin Group.

This is the first visit by Pike, the author of “The Fun Minute Manager”, to the Arab World, where he selected Bahrain to shed light on the best practices in enhancing productivity, training, and development of human capitals and most common challenges facing it. His paper is titled: “When performance is the question, training is the sixth answer”

Commenting on the event, Ahmed Al Banna, the conference chairman, said the business community in Bahrain will have the opportunity to meet the author of 30 books on training and enhancing productivity at work.

Pike is the founder, chairman and CEO of The Bob Pike Group in Minneapolis. He is known as “the trainer’s trainer” and specializes in training those who train others. Pike originated the idea of participant-centered training where instructors facilitate learning through the use of hands-on, interactive lessons.

Pike has been involved in training since 1969 and has authored and co-authored 29 books, including 'The Creative Training Techniques Handbook,' now in its third edition. His latest book “The Fun Minute Manager” hit the market in May 2009 with his co-author Robert C Ford.

This is the first event by SMR Group and Origin Group this year, with an objective of sharpening skills and abilities of trainers, said Al Banna.

The event will be held on two days, during which Bob Pike will discuss various relevant topics like the new strategies in teaching at the workplace, focusing on education and measuring its effectiveness, as well as the different tools a trainer must use to utilise the new technologies in enhancing new teaching approaches.-TradeArabia News Service
