Manama, February 2, 2014

As many as 80 HR and training senior managers from various retail establishments in Bahrain attended a session which highlighted the programmes offered by Bahrain’s labour fund Tamkeen and the Specific Council for Training in Retail (SCTR) to develop Bahrainis’ skills in the sector.

Suad Al-Shakrani, Tamkeen's senior manager for Human Capital Development, and Dr Ehsan Ghurbal, manager of Tamkeen's Career Progression Programme, reviewed the fund’s various training programmes.

It included the Professional Certification Scheme, which enables Bahrainis to obtain internationally accredited certificates; the International Placement Programme, which provides Bahraini employees with the opportunity to gain international best practices and experience; and the Career Progression Programme, which offers business owners and their employees customised training solutions; in addition to other pioneering programmes and initiatives.

Amal Al-Kooheji,  vice-president for human capital development, said: "This orientation session is part of Tamkeen's efforts to provide flexible training opportunities to help Bahrainis develop their skills and accelerate their careers. The meeting enabled us to showcase Tamkeen's programmes that can serve retail businesses and employees, which in turn enhance the retail sector as a whole."

SCTR board chairperson Amal Yousef Al-Moayyed, said: "The meeting was held as a result of the MoU between the SCTR and Tamkeen to co-ordinate and integrate their long-term efforts to make Bahrainis the employees of choice in the retail sector. We thank Tamkeen for the support it provides for the training programmes that we create to develop this sector." - TradeArabia News Service
