‘Technology Rocks!’ contest launched in Jordan

Amman, February 11, 2014

Microsoft Jordan has launched its ‘Technology Rocks!’ competition in collaboration with Nokia Jordan.

The competition targets students, aged 14 to 16, from several internationally-accredited private schools across the kingdom, said a statement.

It will also encompass public schools in Jordan in its later phases, it said.

The launch comes as part of Microsoft Jordan’s efforts to support the national plan for local education initiatives, promote innovation and creativity amongst school students, as well as integrate the latest technologies into the learning and teaching process.

The students from each of the participating schools will design a project utilising the most recent technology innovations, such as the Nokia Lumia Windows Phone, Windows 8, Office 365, and the latest natural user interface devices.

Throughout the duration of the competition, which will run until April, Microsoft’s team of specialists will educate the students on project design methodologies using the newest gadgets so as to give them the experience they need to be part of the programme.

Ayman Afanah, developer and platform evangelist lead, met with the participating students at Oasis500’s headquarters to discuss and showcase the features and uses of Microsoft’s newest technologies, where he also explained the contest’s rules and regulations, and provided the students with the opportunity to experience Microsoft’s products firsthand.

The winning team will be announced in May, said the statement. - TradeArabia News Service
