Madinah, February 24, 2014

A new women's university complex is being set up in Madinah on a 9 million sq m area at a cost of SR208 million ($55.4 million), said a report.

Madinah Governor Prince Faisal bin Salman will lay the foundation stone at Al-Ula today (February 24) for the new campus, which can accommodate about 7,000 students, reported the Arab News.

Leading local firms Al-Murshid Holding, Anwar Al-Khaleej and Babil Maintenance & Operation Company have been awarded contracts to carry out the project, which would be completed within 14 months, said the report.

The project includes college and administrative buildings, as well as housing for university staff. The campus will house the college of arts and human sciences; college of science; community college; and college of applied medical sciences.

Support facilities on the campus include a conference hall that can accommodate 600 people, a nursery, a restaurant, indoor stadium and a service center, in addition to a drinking water storage tank, workshops and security building.
