AMA team wins 'Imagine Cup'

Bahrain’s Imagine Cup 2014 team announced that “Future Torch” team from AMA is the winner of Bahrain’s national round of “Imagine Cup 2014”.

Team “Future Torch”, in the Worldwide Citizenship category alongside Team “Butterfly”, in the Innovation category will represent Bahrain in the Pan Arab finals taking place in Doha in the first week of June.
 
The winners were announced at the awarding ceremony held on Sunday. Winning projects were announced from five shortlisted teams who presented their projects to a judging panel of industry experts as well as live audience.

Team “Future Torch” from AMA International University won the national competition and the ‘World Citizenship’ category first prize. The team included Mohammed Babbili, Dima Mohammad Darraj and Mohammed Mahmoud.

Their project, The Intelligent Jacket for the Blind Innovation (JACKI,) is a solution that aims at solving blind people’s daily problems. This jacket connected to Windows phone and cloud will help blind people achieve their daily life tasks and reduce their challenges.

In the ‘Innovation’ category, Team Butterfly from University of Bahrain won the first prize. Alaa Mohammed Abdulraheem, the only member in this team presented Nail Polish Mixer project, a mobile and PC application designed to control the electronic machine ‘Nail Polish mixer machine’ by user. It also allows them to share photos, discussions and everything about fashion.

Representing Microsoft in this event, Hamad Al Saei, public sector and education manager for Bahrain, congratulated the two winners. He also applauded the efforts of all participants.

Tamkeen’s senior marketing communications manager, Hala Sulaiman also congratulated the winners and praised their presentation skills and the confidence they all showed during the pitch. - TradeArabia News Service
