Qatar’s SEC signs deal with leadership centre

Doha, July 24, 2014

Qatar’s Supreme Education Council (SEC) has signed a deal with the Qatar Leadership Centre (QLC) to develop and strengthen capacity building of its leadership.

Under the MoU, QLC will organise a speciliased leadership training programme to upgrade the skills of the council’s officials, to achieve the SEC’s objectives in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.

The MoU was signed by HE Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Wahed Al-Hammadi, Minister of Education and Higher Education and Secretary General of the Supreme Education Council (SEC), and HE Sheikh Abdulla bin Ali Al-Thani, Ph.D., Managing Director and Member of the Board of Directors of QLC.

Mohammed bin Abdul Wahed Al-Hammadi, Minister of Education and Higher Education, and secretary general of the council, said: “This MoU represents the SEC’s largest training plan since its launch, as the council seeks to ensure that its employees receive the best training courses to promote their skills and improve their performance and career progression.

“This MoU is a practical result of the SEC’s calls to invest in education and training, as investing directly in human capital is one of the priorities of the SEC.”

Such agreements with advanced institutions like QLC reinforces the prestigious position and success of the centre, he said.

Sheikh Abdulla bin Ali Al-Thani, managing director and member of the QLC board, said: “We are pleased that the first institutional programme to be provided by QLC is dedicated to education, one of the most important sectors in the country, which is a key pillar in the empowerment and progress of nations as well as the cornerstone for any social, economic and political evolution and development.

“This MoU represents the beginning of joint strategic co-operation with the SEC, one of the most important and prominent government institutions in the country.” - TradeArabia News Service
