DHA to open 2 new medical fitness centres

Dubai, February 9, 2012

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA), the healthcare body for the Emirate, will open two medical fitness centres in 2012, said a top official.

“The DHA constantly aims to expand its medical fitness services with an aim to further improve geographical access,” added Maisa Al Bustani, director of Medical Fitness at the DHA.

“We currently have 16 medical fitness centres located across the Emirate of Dubai and we are adding two more centres in populated and high-demand areas of Dubai. This will help further streamline our services.”

Al Bustani said that DHA will open the centres in Bur Dubai and Deira areas of Dubai respectively.

She said, “These are areas where we see the need to add our services. These areas are very accessible areas and we are confident that adding our services to these locations will provide customers with easy access to medical fitness services.”

Mandatory medical fitness tests are compulsory for all expatriates in the UAE for the issuance or renewal of their employment, residence or student visas.

The DHA provides this service through its 16 medical fitness centres and branches spread across various locations in the Emirate.

Al Bustani said that 950,000 individuals have used the medical fitness services over the last two years, of which, 94,000 individuals have used the VIP medical fitness services.

Al Bustani said, “The Medical Fitness Department caters to different types of services to fulfil the needs of various customers.”

“For instance, all customers who wish to avail of the VIP medical fitness services can approach the express counters at few of our DHA centres. The cost of a medical fitness report is Dh260 ($70.78), to obtain results within 48 hours costs Dh100 extra and to obtain results within 24 hours it costs Dh200 extra.”

In addition to the VIP medical fitness tests, the DHA also have a door-to-door medical fitness facility known as Tawajod.

Bustani said “This service is a fast-track service which is highly beneficial for corporate employees. DHA employees visit the office or home of the individual who has requested for this service and conduct the medical fitness tests required on the spot.”

“At one time, a maximum of 70 employees can be tested. This saves the time of the business community as their employees can get the test done in their offices itself.”

Al Bustani said that since the launch of the Tawajod project 9,000 individuals have used this service. – TradeArabia News Service
