Kuwaiti hospital introduces ‘Happy Lift’

Kuwait City, February 19, 2012

Dar Al Shifa Hospital recently held an interactive seminar in collaboration with Al Bisher & Zaid Al Kazemi Company, which focused on a key facial and neck lifting procedure called ‘Happy Lift’.

The lecture was presented by prominent Italian plastic surgery professor Ciro Accardo, who gave an overview of the types of Happy Lift threads used in the procedure and how they work, reasons for using the procedure, anatomy and various techniques, combination techniques (short and long advantages), introduction to anchorage, along with main components, indications and protocols of wrinkles.

The hospital’s head of the plastic surgery department, Dr Ismail Nada, also presented a number of case studies which shed light on the importance of the Happy Lift technique.

During his presentation, Dr Nada highlighted that such procedures are adopted amongst leading medical organisations internationally, and provides a safe, fresh and efficient facial as well as neck lifting procedure to patients.

The “Happy Lift” is a soft surgical approach, permitting through a mini invasive surgical operation to practice a lifting without scars on the skin. The thread used supports soft facial tissues without the necessity of a traditional lifting and can be used for flabby cheeks, or to provide harmony to bad contoured or flat face.

The thread used in the procedure is realised in polilatic acid, a usual component of surgical sutures and is widely used in general surgery for more than 50 years with an aim to sew wounded blood vessels, a statement from the hospital said.

The threads are realised with little bidirectional cogs, which when inserted under the skin, threads cogs and constitutes a supporting structure for soft tissues of the face which prevents any shifting or movement of the thread.

“The threads used in this procedure are invisible. The Happy Lift provides freshness and vitality to patients, where the threads can disappear after 12 to 18 months and don’t leave any effect,” Dr Nada said.

“The procedure, which is considered to be one of the safest lifting techniques, does not require general anesthesia, and can be performed under local or truncular anesthesia. The technique takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes for smaller areas and about 30 to 40 minutes for the whole face,” he said.

Dar Al Shifa Hospital was established in 1963 as the first private hospital in the State of Kuwait. It began as a private maternity care hospital, and has since then steadily grown to encompass a wide spectrum of healthcare services.

In 2004 the hospital established an affiliation with Care-Fertility Unit, a leading independent fertility specialist in the UK, the statement said.

The hospital is distinguished by being the first and sole representative for Care-Fertility’s in–vitro fertilisation (IVF) unit in the Gulf region and the Middle East.

In 2007, Dar Al Shifa Hospital became the first hospital in the Middle East to receive accreditation by the (CCHSA), it said. – TradeArabia News Service
