Diabetes experts to meet in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, December 1, 2013

Over 100 medical specialists will be in Abu Dhabi for a major conference next month that will discuss up-to-date thinking surrounding endocrinology and diabetes.

The two-day Clinical Update from the European Society of Endocrinology (ESE) will be hosted at Abu Dhabi’s Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC) from January 10.

The programme will feature more than 15 international expert sessions, including the most recent take on diabetes guidelines from Prof Maha Barakat, director general of Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD).

Karim Meeran, professor of endocrinology, faculty of medicine and chairman of ICLDC’s Medical Board, said the programme will deliver an update on current clinical practice, research and thinking in the hormonal field, with a focus on their role in the prevalence of diabetes and related complications.

Prof Philippe Bouchard, the ESE president and author of numerous published works on endocrinology, confirmed that the comprehensive programme was structured over 20 sessions, a combination of lectures and interactive workshops, including the latest on hyperparathyroidism, congenital adrenal hyperplasia and minimally invasive adrenal surgery. - TradeArabia News Service
