Dubai, March 13, 2014

Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) has signed key agreements with the University of Dubai and Dubai Medical College (DMC) in bid to strengthen medical education among Emiratis.

Under the terms of the agreement, both parties will jointly focus on supporting medical education and research programs. The partnership will help implement academic programmes, consultancy, research, seminars and conferences.

A key outcome from the MoU with Dubai Medical College, the first private college awarding degree of Medicine and Surgery in the UAE, is the introduction of simulation training into the medical curriculum.

As part of the scope, the Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Medical Simulation Center (KHMSC) at DHCC, a health and wellness destination that brings together a wealth of services in healthcare, medical education and research, will support the Dubai Medical College in simulation training, which is central to developing confidence and preparing for real-life critical medical situations.

The collaboration aims to strengthen medical education in the UAE and address shortage of physicians.

In addition, the MoU with University of Dubai entitles DHCC employees to partial scholarships, development programs, and professional certifications as well as job fairs organized by the university, said a senior official.

Dr Amer Sharif, the managing director - Education, DHCC, said, “Through partnerships with leading education facilities such as University of Dubai and Dubai Medical College, we aim to bring concrete advancements to the opportunities for Emiratis and other medical students in the UAE.”

Dr Eesa Bastaki, the president of the University of Dubai, a leading higher education institution in the UAE, and the MoU signatory, said the University of Dubai is committed to delivering the highest levels of education to create future leaders.

This partnership falls in line with our commitment to enhance the development and diversification of the UAE economy by equipping future generations with the skills needed to make a difference in every industry, noted Dr Bastaki. -TradeArabia News Service
