Panasonic showcases sustainable living at Wetex

Dubai, April 14, 2014

Preserving energy resources and managing a sustainable growth are key issues being addressed at Wetex 2014, which opened in Dubai today (April 14).

Focusing on sustainable development, Panasonic is exhibiting its revolutionary project - The Fujisawa Sustainable Smart Town (FSST) at the expo. Also being showcased is the “Smarthems" (Home Energy Management System), Air-Con (AC) Centralised Management System using cloud server and storage solutions.

The “Fujisawa model” is a revolutionary town-creation scheme that enhances people's lives with solar power, security, mobility, community, and healthcare and residents have already started living within the township. Spread across 19 hectare on the outskirts of Tokyo, this eco-conscious town is being built with the primary objective to promote sustainability. The project aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 70 per cent and achieve renewable energy usage of over 30 per cent for the entire town, a statement said.

Shinichi Wakita, managing director, Panasonic Marketing Middle East and Africa, said: “The region’s exponential growth is quickly depleting the natural resources, and countries are facing huge unsustainable energy bills. Ecological smart cities are the future, and at Wetex 2014, Panasonic is proud to showcase its unique products and solutions, that are helping to power Fujisawa.”

Visitors to Wetex 2014 will also be able to see the benefits of HEMS, by linking a whole range of domestic appliances, the HEMS shows the amount of energy being used in the home. The system will indicate whether or not energy-saving goals are being achieved, and will display advice on where further savings can be made.

Similarly, with the Air-Con (AC) Centralized Management System, Panasonic will provide a PPU (Pay-Per-Use) application system with AC adaptor, server and Kiosk offering centralized control and management of AC systems on server.

“We are extremely pleased to bring to the market Panasonic's environmentally friendly range of products. With the UAE -led by its leadership, strongly promoting green initiatives, the innovative technology that Panasonic brings in the area are ideally suited for this country,” said Shaun Sullivan, general manager of Al-Futtaim Panatech.
