Rare spine surgery is performed on Bahrain girl

Manama, April 15, 2014

A teenage girl suffering from a debilitating condition has been given a new lease of life thanks to a rare operation performed in Bahrain.

The 13-year-old girl, whose identity has not been revealed, was suffering from scoliosis - a curvature of the spine which severely affected her quality of life, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

However, following a successful operation to correct it, performed by Royal Bahrain Hospital specialist spinal surgeon Dr Henry Graf, she is now able to lead a normal life.

"After the surgical intervention, the spine was placed in its normal position and we are happy to say the girl is now happy and leading a normal life like others," he said.

Hospital president Ahmed Jawahery praised medical staff, led by Dr Graf, involved in the operation.

"RBH is very proud to have such professional surgeons, who indeed, have the capability to cure and deal with the most difficult cases," he said. - TradeArabia News Service
