Sohar port plans $200m deepwater jetty
Sohar, September 8, 2008
Tender documents are under preparation for the Sohar Industrial Port's deep water jetty.
The $200 million project is the next phase of expansion of the port and industrial area. Already more than $15 billion has been invested in both infrastructure and industries.
The project will involve the design, construction and maintenance of a deepwater jetty (1.2 km length) for the import and export of bulk materials.
It includes dredging of the existing approach channel and a new harbour basin to a depth of 23 m intended for vessels up to 400,000 DWT (Very Large Ore Carriers). -TradeArabia News Service
