DAF awards technical suppliers

Dubai, July 28, 2009

Dubai Airport Freezone recently presented awards to three of its supplier companies for completing technical works in an Dh18 million ($4.9 million) project in record time.

Adel Ghafan Al Basti, executive director of the Free Zone’s technical division, awarded representatives of Johnson Controls, Scientechnic, and Sutton International at his office.

“The award was given for the companies’ best performance in chiller plant refurbishment works. As a regular development by Dubai Airport Freezone the central chiller plant capacity has upgraded from 6050 tons to 9350 tons,” said Al Basti.

“This upgrading work has involved installation of new equipments like chillers, cooling towers, pumps and electrical panels, etc.,” he added. “The suppliers and contractors have extended full support by organizing and assigning their team towards the commissioning of these equipments in less than 10hours.”

The Dubai Airport Freezone is following an upwards growth trajectory and a year on year revenue increase despite the difficult economic climate. It has recently posted a 48 per cent increase in revenue in the first half of 2009 compared to the same period in 2008.

The Free Zone has achieved high growth rates in 2008 as occupancy for international companies increased by 58 per cent leading to 84 per cent increase in net profits and 59 per cent in revenues compared to 2007.

Dubai Airport Freezone will invest Dh1.3 billion to almost double its capacity with six new buildings and a hotel.

The expansion comes at a time of significant growth and expectations of high demand from companies relocating to the Free Zone in the coming years. – TradeArabia News Service
