Air freight grows 14.4pc in October

Geneva, November 25, 2010

Growth in international air cargo ticked up in October, after falling since May, to be 14.4 percent higher year-on-year, the airline industry body Iata said on Thursday.

Iata said freight -- an important indicator of world trade and hence economic recovery -- to be at a turning point although it was too soon to say whether the uptick marked a new trend.

Passenger traffic was 10.1 percent higher in October than a year earlier, the International Air Transport Association said in its monthly analysis of air traffic. - Reuters
