Bahrain’s General Organisation of Sea Ports (GOP) has announced that operations are normal at all its ports including Khalifa bin Salman Port (KBSP).

The ports are receiving ships normally and are providing all necessary services, such as loading and unloading and delivery and receipt of containers, without any delay or interruption, said a statement from the GOP.

In partnership with APM Terminals (APMT), KBSP’s operating company, GOP has put a crisis management strategy in place to deal with all abnormal situations, including the current unrest in the Kingdom, it stated.

This planning enables GOP to deal with staff shortages, and maintain a consistent workflow, ensuring the provision of integrated services to all port users without interruption, it added.

Regarding the marine ban which has been imposed in some areas, the GOP said it does not include commercial ships arriving and departing to and from the Kingdom on international voyages.

GOP has called upon all dealers with Bahrain’s ports including agents and traders to go about their usual procedures in receiving goods as per normal regulations and official times specified by the port’s operator.

As a regulator, the GOP is responsible for supervising all maritime safety and environmental matters and ensuring adequate infrastructure is in place to serve the needs of the Kingdom’s seaports, including the region’s newest state-of-the-art port Khalifa Bin Salman Port.

The GOP is also responsible for operating and developing the Bahrain Logistics zone.-TradeArabia News Service
