Cavotec Middle East, the UAE-based subsidiary of global engineering group Cavotec MSL, has won its second major contract with the New Muscat International Airport.

Cavotec has been selected to supply Cavotec Dabico fuel hydrant pits to be deployed across the development.

The New Muscat International Airport project, which is currently underway in Seeb, will have a new fuel farm with a hydrant pipeline apart from other apron services such as 400Hz and preconditioned air pop-up pits, which has already been awarded to Cavotec last year under an Dh15 million ($4.08 million) contract.

The generous capacity of the DAB24 hydrant pit, which offers more volume for liquid in cases of spillage, the easy opening cover, as well as water- and sand-proof sealing provided on the Cavotec pit proved decisive during the evaluation and final selection process, a statement said.

The DAB 24 can be partially opened to connect with dispenser vehicles; the cover is also fully removable, it added.

“We are very proud to have been chosen by the two separate contractors for different airport utility solutions to be implemented in the same airport development, first by Bahwan Group and now by Amana Pipeline Construction, who are building the fuel hydrant package in Muscat,” said Juergen Strommer, managing director of Cavotec Middle East.

“This new order reaffirms Cavotec’s reputation as a leading supplier of advanced equipment and end-to-end solutions in both regional and global aviation industries, which now also encompasses aviation fueling systems through the firm’s manufacturing facilities in the UK, Germany and the US,” he added.

This latest deal, undertaken through Amana Pipeline Construction, also marks an important milestone for the Group, as it is Cavotec Middle East’s first order for fuel hydrant pits in the region since its acquisition of the Dabico Group, a leader in airport utility solutions, in 2009, the statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
