Supply chain in limelight at Dubai expo

Dubai, September 27, 2011

The burgeoning demand for seamless cargo handling and supply chain facilities around the Middle East was in focus during the first two days of an ongoing materials handling exhibition in Dubai.

The sixth edition of Materials Handling Middle East, which opened on September 25 at Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre, is ending today (September 27).

Trade visitors dropped by the various exhibitor stands in search of new services and solutions while exhibitors reported interest in the benefits of new technology and innovative solutions within the materials handling sector.

“Being the principal gathering of the regional industry, Materials Handling Middle East has always had a key role to play in reflecting the unique needs and conditions of the Middle East market,” said Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of organiser Epoc Messe Frankfurt.

“By bringing key local and international manufacturers and suppliers in touch with business leaders and industry professionals from the region, we are glad to play the role of facilitators in an industry that is in a constant state of change,” he added.

With governments around the region investing money into setting up new sea and air terminals, inter-regional rail and road networks as well as oil and gas transhipment facilities, interest in the region has surged among leading players looking for a share in the pie.

Proving immensely popular at the trade event is the comprehensive conference and seminar programme. The first two days saw delegates eager to absorb the inputs by international industry experts and thought leaders speaking on key topics of interest.

Camille S Samaha, general manager of SPAN, who has been exhibiting at Materials Handling since its inception, said that the company was here to meet and show their products a new shuttle system, cord logistics and a new forklift to potential new customers.

Ehab Amouri, manager, Machinery Division at Abdulla Al Masaood & Sons Industrial Equipment, said: “It was really good and the first day and a half were beyond all expectations. We are exhibiting because we want to bring new products. We have generated some good enquiries and generally speaking attendance has been good.”

SchollerArca Systems launched their range of latest and innovative plastic pallets at Materials Handling Middle East. These Magnum Optimum plastic pallets are the latest innovation in sustainable RTP packaging, a statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
