QatNav picks Jade software for Doha port

Auckland, September 28, 2011

Qatar Navigation Services, the country’s main shipping operator, has chosen a specialist logistics software from Jade, a leading product innovator, to manage the port of Doha.

Qatar Navigation Service's Doha Port is the sixth win for Jade’s Master Terminal in 18 months and follows successful campaigns to win ports business in Messina Italy, Iraq, Georgia, United Arab Emirates and Gdansk Poland, said Howard Wren, Logistics director, Jade.

"Jade Logistics is delighted to be expanding its business at such a major location in the Middle East and developing a long term relationship with Qatar Navigation Services. Master Terminal will help to cost effectively manage the complex port operation, providing visibility and transparency of cargo movements to all users," said Wren.

Allan Middleton, Qatar Navigation Services spokesperson said that the Qatar Navigation Committee considered Jade's Master Terminal a solid, professional and all-round terminal operating system provider.

"Jade's proven track record and high standard of industry and technical knowledge gave us the comfort we were looking for. They stood out as being the best fit for the Qatar Navigation Services. We are looking forward to using Master Terminal and the improvements it will bring to port operations during a period of strong growth."

Currently the port uses a paper-based system to manage its annual 330,000 TEU container movements.

Millions of tonnes of cargo are expected to pass through the port as Qatar undertakes multi-billion dollar infrastructure projects including new hotels, rapid rail and construction of stadia in the lead up to the world's largest sporting event. – TradeArabia News Service
