Manama, January 26, 2012

A new BD6.42 million ($17 million) self-storage project, which provides users with cost-effective, secure, and flexible self-storage solutions that they can control themselves, has been launched in Bahrain.

The completed project Takhzeen by Al Khaleej Development Company 'Tameer' was opened by Industry and Commerce Minister Dr Hassan Fakhro, and is built over a land area of 20,000 sq m.

The facility, located in the Bahrain Investment Wharf within the Salman Industrial City, provides 18,000 sq m of temperature-controlled storage space distributed over two identical buildings of which building one provides 800 storage units that vary in size from 2.5sqm to 30sqm.

It caters to the different storage demands of individuals and businesses. This ranges from appliances, furniture, cars, camping equipment and boats to documents, files, records, and company transcripts.

Building two provides larger storage units ranging from 100 sq m to 200 sq m.

During the opening ceremony, Dr Fakhro confirmed the importance of logistic service projects that support major industrial projects.

It will provide effective solutions and options for many projects that operate in the Salman Industrial City, he added.

He said that it will contribute to increasing industrial production efficiency of these mega projects.

Dr Fakhro praised the positive step pursued by Tameer in boosting development and industrial processes in Bahrain.

He noted the ministry's keenness in follow up value-added projects which will effectively contribute to achieving the Economic Vision 2030.

Takhzeen chairman Ahmed Al Qattan said that the project is the first storage facility of its kind in the region in terms of its size, scale, management approach and service capacity.

'The operations are driven by a team of specialists in the field of storage to ensure the highest service standards are implemented and to build a basis for expansion of the concept in the GCC and the Middle East,' he added.

'There are a number of reasons why individuals and businesses look to self-storage as an answer to limitations in space. Takhzeen provides a means of de-cluttering, organising, and managing possessions, equipment, documents and much more,' he added.

Takhzeen will become the Mena region's foremost brand in self- storage.

It has plans to expand its operations by opening new facilities in the GCC countries, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, and Morocco, amongst other regional markets. – TradeArabia News Service
