Man to supply 72 trucks to Municipality

Kuwait City, June 10, 2012

Leading manufacturer of commercial vehicles, Man, has announced that it will supply 72 units of Man trucks to the Kuwaiti Municipality this year, following a successful outing at the recently held Ifat Entsorga 2012 in Munich.

The deal is expected to be part of a bigger commitment to supply 112 units of Man trucks to the Kuwaiti market this year, with two more deals of 22 and 18 units in the pipeline, a statement from Man said.

With a wide footprint across the Middle East and a well-established service network, Man is in a strong position to serve the Kuwaiti market’s civic infrastructure needs, the statement said.

It offers a comprehensive portfolio of products from 6 to 41 tonnes gross vehicle weight, with reliable and economical solutions serving the waste-disposal sector, road and conduit cleaning and maintenance sectors in addition to the wider passenger transport, goods transport, logistics and other commercial vehicle sectors.

The current deal to supply Abdul Hameed Salem & Sons Cleaning Company with 41 units and Kuwait Pritchard Cleaning Company with 31 units of Man trucks will include models of TGS 33.360 6X4 BBWW, TGM 18.280 4X2 BL, TGS 40.400 6X4 BBWW, TGS 33.350 6X4 BBWW, TGS 40.360 6X4 BBWW and CLA 26.280 6X4 BBS.

The models represent the best in their class with several special features such as special power take off (PTO) functions and Euro 2 and Euro 3 emission standards. The five units of CLA trucks being delivered as part of this deal will be the very first entry of this model within the Kuwaiti market, the statement said.

Muttaqui Asghar, sales manager, Al Ahlia Heavy Vehicles Selling & Import Company, said: “Man already has a very strong presence in Kuwait with steady sales of commercial vehicles in the market over the past five years. Man trucks and buses represent the best in safety, reliability, comfort, environmental friendliness and economical operation and our strong service footprint makes us the perfect partner to support the Kuwaiti government’s drive for modern and efficient civic infrastructure development. Overall we project the sale of 175 units – including trucks and buses units – in the Kuwaiti market in 2012.”

Since the opening of its Middle East and Africa regional headquarters in the Dubai Airport Free Zone in 2006, the company has sold 56,787 vehicles – 6,031 buses and 50,756 trucks. In the Middle East Man has sold over 25,000 trucks, and nearly 1,400 buses.

Markus Geyer, CEO, sales region, Middle East & Africa, Man Truck & Bus AG, said: “In the aftermath of the economic slowdown during 2009 to 2011, our sales have steadily picked up growing by over 18 per cent year-on-year in 2010 and nearly 27 per cent year-on-year in 2011. Our revenues in 2010 and 2011 were €590 million and €697 million respectively.”

With three main ranges of vehicles, Man produces public transport buses under the Man brand, VIP luxury buses under the NeoPlan brand and light to heavy duty trucks for construction and logistics purposes. – TradeArabia News Service
