DMC, Mubarak ink deal for $35m marine complex

Dubai Maritime City (DMC), a global maritime cluster, has signed a long-term agreement with Mubarak Marine to develop an industrial complex project for maritime services, shipbuilding and repair worth Dh130 million ($35 million).

This complex will enable Mubarak Marine to establish their headquarters as well as a major marine workshop and maintenance facility. The agreement is in keeping with the overall promotion and development of business relations and national and foreign investments of companies which are based in the city.

An increasing number of local and international organisations have moved into the city, which is one of the largest man-made multi-purpose developments in the world that is strategically located close to the heart of Dubai.

DMC is a 106 hectare district that comprises pre-built industrial property, ship repair and building plots, yacht repair and manufacturing plots, retail units, offices and ship yard facilities and services. It undertakes a continuous development of infrastructure and multi maritime facilities all of which are geared towards improving the business opportunities and investments for long term diversification of income sources.

“We are delighted that a well-known company such as Mubarak Marine has chosen decided to further their operations from the city, this will definitely fuel the growth of the repair and maintenance sector and also direct attention to the important role played by the city in facilitating maritime activity both regionally and globally,” said Khamis Juma Buamim, chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World.

DMC was awarded the Silver Category Rating by Global Green Building Rating System for adherence to strict environment friendly measures, optimization of marine manufacturing facilities and world class green building technology and techniques.

In addition, DMC works closely with Drydocks World – Dubai under a strict system of “Zero Harm to the environment, health, safety and security” campaign to achieve its environmental conservation objectives. – TradeArabia News Service
