Alba on track for record year

Manama, December 11, 2013

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), one of the largest aluminium smelters in the world, is on track to exceed 2012 production-record of 890,000 tonnes, said a senior official.

"Alba continues to push the limit on operational improvement with the launch of the ‘Project Titan’ cost improvement programme," stated chairman Mahmood Hashim Al Kooheji, following the last quarterly meeting for the year.

“We feel Project Titan will not only be a key differentiator but also give the company a cutting-edge to maintain its competitive position in this industry,” he said.

The board highlighted the significant improvement in safety during the year and thanked the management for the efforts to improve employee safety.

It also gave the approval on the third quarter Financial Statements, 2013 Corporate Governance Report, 2014 Operating Plan and the Capital Expenditure Plan.  

In addition, the board reviewed the updates from the Board Audit, Human Resource and Board Strategic Committees, and undertook a self-performance evaluation during the meeting.

The chairman expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Government of Bahrain, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

The board also expressed appreciation to the senior executive management team, managers, employees and their representatives in the Alba Labour Union for their continuous support to boost the company's operations. - TradeArabia News Service
