Bentley Substation 'enhances design efficiency'

Exton, Pennsylvania, March 18, 2014

Bentley Systems, a leading provider of comprehensive software solutions for sustaining infrastructure, said American Electric Power (AEP), an electric utility, is set to enhance its electric substation design practices with its ‘Bentley Substation.’

Bentley Substation’s integrated set of capabilities combines intuitive 3D modelling, electrical design functionality and automatic bills of materials and report generation, said a statement.

AEP will gain from B/IM, Bentley’s advancement of the reach and benefits of BIM for better-performing assets through increased depth of information modelling, and better-performing projects through increased breath of information mobility.

The utility anticipates faster design cycles and improved collaboration across physical and electrical design disciplines, said a statement.

The substation will be available to more than 100 AEP staff member in its transmission and engineering organisation and plans are to extend the software’s use to also include primary outsourced engineering contractors.

Richard Zambuni, Bentley industry marketing director, utilities, communications, and government, said: “We are very pleased that AEP has selected Bentley Substation to design greenfield and brownfield projects faster, more cost-effectively, and with higher quality. AEP joins the growing number of owner-operator utilities that are benefiting from the enormous productivity advantages of intelligent substation design.” - TradeArabia News Service
