Aerospace supply chain leaders meet in Abu Dhabi

Experts from the aviation and aerospace sector discussed the challenges and opportunities faced by supply chain players at the Abu Dhabi Suppliers Forum.
Industry leaders shared details of their current partnerships in the Middle East and identified possible partnership strategies in the future, said a statement.
Jay Campbell, a Boeing executive who spoke at the forum, said: “Our $2.5 billion commitment with local organisations such as Strata, Mubadala and Tawazun Precision Industries (TPI) is indicative of how focused we are on working with our UAE partners.”
Vincent Mohni, senior operations manger at TPI, said: “When we think of expanding our business, we don’t see competitors or customers. We consider other industry players to be potential partners that can help us grow.”
The panelists also discussed their objectives for Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 and what role suppliers are playing in supporting the emirate’s ambitions to become an international aerospace hub.
Sara Al Ahbabi, general procurement manager at Strata, said: “Abu Dhabi is already branching into several fields that will contribute to economic diversification and social development in the emirate as well as the wider UAE. Strategic partnerships with global players such as Boeing and Airbus are bringing us a step closer to achieving the 2030 Vision.”
The session concluded with an interactive discussion between delegates who discussed how the industry can be made more long term and sustainable.
Criteria such as project management capability, technological skill, functional integration and the ability to meet quality control requirements were established as key characteristics common in strong supply partners.
Co-located with the Global Aerospace Summit, the forum provided an opportunity to network and form profitable and mutually beneficial new relationships across the supply chain.
The summit is hosting aviation and aerospace experts to share their experiences of supporting industrialisation, improving supply chain standards and creating value-added jobs for highly skilled individuals. - TradeArabia News Service
