Dubai RTA to host transport expo next week

Local and international transport industry operators and authorities will be showcasing their products and latest innovations at the upcoming UITP Mena Congress and Exhibition 2014 being hosted by Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA).

The fourth edition of the event will be held from April 27 to 30 at the Dubai World Trade Center on 6,000 sq m floor space.

Mattar Al Tayer, chairman of the board and executive director of the RTA, said: “This event is considered one of the biggest gatherings in the public transport field as it brings together the industry’s leaders, policy makers, legislators, developers, consultants, operators, and manufactures under one roof to discuss future solutions of public transport means.”

“The Organising Committee is holding regular internal meetings at the RTA, and quarter meetings with a delegation from the UITP Office in Brussels, Belgium to prepare for this event. The Committee is making studious efforts that go beyond meeting expectations and even surpass the standards set by the Congress in 2011,” explained Al Tayer.

“The event underpins the significant growth witnessed by cities in the region, the steady population growth, and the urgent need of providing integrated structure of mass transit systems to facilitate city transport. The congress and exhibition constitute a good opportunity to share successful experiences of developed countries and the latest technologies adopted in this field,” Al Tayer continued.

"The RTA is always keen to bring the best expertise and the highest international practices in mass transport sector to the Mena region by capitalizing on the UITP’s expertise, which boasts of 3,200 members hailing from 92 countries."

The RTA had signed a cooperation agreement in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding with the UITP to organise the UITP Mena biennially for a period of ten years in Dubai to serve as a permanent platform through which the regional countries can review the world’s latest developments and innovations in public transport. – TradeArabia News Service
