Wrightstyle supplies specialist systems in Qatar

Doha, June 22, 2014

Wrightstyle, a leading supplier of steel and aluminium glazing systems in Europe, is supplying specialist systems for three flagship projects in Doha.

It is supplying to its long-established customer in the Gulf, Aluminium Technology Auxiliary Industries (Alutec), a Qatar-based aluminium and glazing company, and to Fensys Middle East Doors and Windows, an Abu Dhabi-based leader in the supply of internal and external systems.

The projects include the extensive upgrade of the Al Wakra Hospital, a leading hospital in Qatar with over 200 beds and nearly 3,000 staff.

The 130,000 sq m hospital is managed by the Hamad Medical Corporation, a non-for-profit healthcare provider in Qatar, which also manages the country’s ambulance service.

The company supplied a number of products and systems, including fire-rated curtain walling, doors and internal screens.

The second project, also in partnership with Alutec, is the supply of 60-minute fire rated stainless steel doors for the Westin Doha Hotel and Spa, which will be managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.

The 373-room luxury hotel is set in the Central Business District and is due to open in 2015. It will include a man-made beach, wave pool, rivers and a waterfall.

The third contract, for Fensys, is the supply of ten fully-fabricated 90/90 stainless steel windows, for Education City, Doha, a ‘multivesities,’ which will comprise campuses of US, UK and French universities and a number of research and scientific centres of excellence.

The contract is for the facility’s central plant, whose primary function is the supply of air conditioning for the 2,500-acre establishment and its 1,300 students of 70 nationalities.

Lee Coates, Wrightsyle’s technical director, said:  “These contracts underline the international dimension of this specialist market, and how we have built an international reputation for the design and fabrication of integrated glass and frame systems.

“The Fensys contract was particularly challenging because of the large profile sizes and the demanding specification for 90 minutes integrity and insulation." - TradeArabia News Service
