Waiting times for trucks at the Bahrain customs area at King Fahad Causewayi have been slashed by a third in one month, a report said.

Loaded trucks have had a waiting period reduced from 757 minutes to 505 minutes, reported the Gulf Daily News (GDN).

Efforts are underway to bring this down to 240 minutes by the month-end, GDN quoted Akhbar Al Khaleej.

Better movement across the causeway is expected to invigorate economic momentum and increase investors’ trust in the local market.

It follows the deployment of additional staff, speeding up of customs formalities, allowing easier recruitment by clearance agencies and granting immediate access to goods exempted from duties.

Parking facilities of trucks have also been improved.

The system of clearing trucks from their assembly point in Salman Industrial City has been revamped and cameras are to be installed at the waiting area for trucks in Janabiya, which has recently been equipped with cabins.

The smoother flow of traffic across the causeway follows directives from HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier. – TradeArabia News Service
