Batelco re-launches payment gateway

Manama, May 16, 2009

Batelco, Bahrain’s leading telecom provider, has re-launched its payment gateway by integrating the platform to Mastercard Internet gateway service (MiGS).

The @ltijara payment gateway service, which processes hundreds of thousands of transactions a year, is used by merchants to conduct their business on the Internet and other electronic channels such as IVR, KIOSK and SMS.

By cooperating with MasterCard International, @ltijara payment gateway is integrated with MiGS. The platform was changed to provide a secure and certified solution that is supported by “Verified by Visa” (VbV) and MasterCard SecureCode.

The integrated platform of @ltijara with MiGS will enable merchants to have an effective e-payments solution that provides additional security measures.

Batelco’s @ltijara payment gateway, which has been in operation for more than 10 years, was the first payment gateway in the Gulf region.

“Our years of experience give us the edge against the competition,” said Adel Daylami, Batelco general manager products & services.

“Our service provides reliable financial authorization and settlement services to internet merchants and electronic buyers with industry proven encryption standards and leading-edge security protocols, where all data communications within the system are strongly encrypted using the latest encryption technology,” he added.

“The system is now Verified by VISA and Mastercard SecureCode compliant giving total flexibility and security.”

“Demand for highly secure electronic payment systems continues to grow as more and more people are discovering the convenience of completing transactions electronically,” Daylami noted. – TradeArabia News Service
