E-Marine wins submarine cable service deal

E-Marine, the region’s leader in submarine cable deployment, maintenance and repair, has been selected to maintain the 5,000km submarine cable system between the UAE and Kenya.

This cable route is providing Kenya and bordering countries access to international voice and data connectivity. This will also bring affordable high speed internet access to the East African countrie, which is critically important for the future development of national economies on the continent.

“We have now been contracted by the major cable network companies operating near the East coast of Africa. This is a testimony of our customer trust both to the staff and the capabilities of e-marine,” stated Omar Jassim Bin Kalban, managing director and chief of E-Marine.

E-Marine’s cable ships will service the cable from its facilities in the port of Salalah, Oman. This facility will store the necessary cables and accessories which will be required to perform maintenance/repair operations.

The UAE-Kenya Submarine Cable System is built and owned by Etisalat and Teams Limited, Kenya having major telecos as its shareholders and the system went into service on October 1.

E-marine is an ISO certified company and one of the market leaders in submarine cable installation, maintenance and repair. E-Marine owns three cable ships and one special purpose cable laying support vessel which are all fully equipped with state-of-the-art equipment.

E-Marine has valid maintenance contracts for more than 45,000 km of submarine cables from Arabian Gulf, Indian Ocean, East Africa and Red Sea.-TradeArabia News Service
