Motorola to upgrade Zain's 3G network

Motorola has won a contract from Zain Kuwait to expand and upgrade the operator’s 3G HSPA mobile broadband network to HSPA+, which supports increased download speeds of up to 21.6 Mbps, as well as implementing enhancements to the uplink.

“Zain strives to offer its customers the fastest mobile broadband service possible and our continued collaboration with Motorola provides us with the latest solutions to facilitate the best customer experience,” said Khaled Al Hajeri, chief, Zain in Kuwait.

“We have trust in Motorola’s technology and ability to deliver on 3G, as was previously demonstrated in the rapid deployment of our first contract.”

With the expansion of the network and implementation of new HSPA+ software, Zain will be able to provide customers with improved indoor coverage, as well as an enhanced mobile internet experience with improved internet browsing and faster downloading of video clips, films and music. To accommodate the improved services, Zain will offer customers devices capable of supporting data speeds of up to 21.6 Mbps.
