Lenovo launches ‘Idea’ range in Egypt

Lenovo, a leading computer maker, launched its latest range of “Idea” products in Egypt, which are designed to provide customers with fun to use and reliable technology with the latest capabilities at an affordable value, said a report.

The “Idea” products target consumers and professionals who are looking to maximise entertainment and computing performance to get the job done at work and keep them connected and enjoying their computing experience as well.

According to the latest reports from Business Monitor International (BMI) Egypt’s computer hardware sales are projected at $757 million in 2009 and are forecast to reach $1.2 billion in 2013.

Egypt’s IT spending is forecasted to increase from $1.2 billion in 2009 to $1.9 billion by 2013. BMI projects a 2009-2013 IT spending compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12 per cent which puts Egypt in the top tier of global IT growth markets.

“The IT sector in Egypt is rapidly growing thanks to the government’s adaptation to several initiatives such as Computer for Every Student and Computer for Every Home,” said Khaled Kamel, Lenovo’s general manager Middle East, Egypt and Pakistan.

“With the ongoing infrastructure projects and the government support to IT developments, we believe Egypt will continue to grow into one of the key regional markets for IT vendors who seek to grow their business,” he added.

Ralf Jordan, Lenovo’s executive director and general manager of Lenovo Eastern Europe, Middle East, Africa and Turkey, said: “The current development of the Egyptian IT market is very encouraging and is the reason why we are introducing the new “Idea” product range to the country.”

“Users are looking for thinner and lighter PCs with enhanced features and reliable technology that could provide them with excellent performance. The ‘Idea’ line meets these requirements and offers on top a great design to an affordable price, and a breakthrough experience, thanks to its breakthrough features,” he added.

The new range of “Idea” products launched in Egypt includes a variety of notebooks such as the U350 and G550, netbooks such as the S10-2, S12 and all-in-ones such as the A600. – Reuters
